GIT4Infrastructure.org Launches 9/9/09
GITA Offers Discounted $99 Membership Rate Through 12/31/09

9:09 a.m. MDT: Sept. 9, 2009: Aurora, Colo. — The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is very pleased to announce the launch of a brand new, interactive geospatial information center for infrastructure practitioners: git4infrastructure.org. This evolving, community-based information center thrives from input from the geospatial and infrastructure communities, and GITA invites everyone to be part of the progression of the site by submitting ideas/solutions/content!

To celebrate the launch on 9/9/09, anyone who joins GITA today through 12/31/09, will receive a special discounted rate of $99 (normally $125). GITA members will have exclusive access to two of the center's most exciting features, a year-round online community coming in October 2009 and a GIT4Infrastructure Information Feed, launching in November 2009. The information feed will be the most extensive feed for all things geospatial, infrastructure, and the stimulus package. For full details and to become a member, visit gita.org/membership.

“In a time where everybody—because of the economic situation—is consolidating and watching resources, we felt it was important to take some bold action to position the association as a geospatial thought leader for infrastructure,” said Robert M. Samborski, GITA’s executive director. “This Web site is our commitment to the geospatial community.”

GITA is the go-to association for geospatial practitioners from infrastructure organizations, including electric and gas utilities, public agencies, communications companies, oil/gas/pipeline companies, water/wastewater organizations, transportation, emergency responders, and more. The association created this site to become a daily information resource for geospatially managing, protecting, maintaining, and operating the infrastructure.

Sections of GIT4Infrastructure.org include: reference materials, applicable technology, networking, interactive features, and news.
