Oracle Spatial User Conference Abstract Submission Guidelines

Click here for Abstract Submission Form

Oracle is hosting the fourth annual international Oracle Spatial User Conference on Thursday, April 23, 2009, in Tampa, Florida, in conjunction with GITA's 2009 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference.  This full-day event will include sessions by Oracle covering its latest spatial and location product updates, and user presentations.

We invite you to actively participate in this User Conference by presenting a session. This is an unparalleled opportunity to share your knowledge with a respected audience of geospatial and information technology professionals. Abstract submissions are due September 1, 2008.  Abstract selection is very competitive.  Please follow the guidelines below to ensure that your abstract is considered.

A committee from Oracle and the IOUG North American Oracle Spatial Special Interest Group will perform the selection of abstracts. This Oracle Spatial SIG provides a forum for geospatial and IT professionals to share best practices and meet with Oracle Spatial experts. The NA Spatial SIG is one of many national and regional Oracle Spatial User Groups that offer rich interaction among end users, technology partners, service providers and academic professionals.

Selection Criteria

We welcome all abstracts for technical and/or business case studies highlighting Oracle Spatial and Oracle MapViewer.  Presentations that highlight the following content will be given highest priority for acceptance:

  • Technical information, especially live demonstrations and/or “how-tos” that illustrate in detail, with code samples as appropriate, how Oracle Spatial and/or Oracle Application Server MapViewer solved a specific technical problem of interest to a broad number of users.

  • Use of Oracle Spatial with other Oracle applications/tools, for example
    • Business Intelligence
    • Asset Management
    • Field Service
    • Utilities
    • JDeveloper
    • Universal Content Management
    • Application Express (APEX)

  • Integration with release 11g of Oracle Spatial

  • Innovative uses of the following Oracle Spatial features:
    • Web services
    • GeoRaster
    • Network, topology data models; linear referencing system
    • 3D data model for LIDAR data, TINs

  • Integration with leading partner geospatial tools and business applications

In your abstract, provide a concise summary of your 20-25 minute presentation.  You may wish to include

  • A brief description of the business and/or technical problem faced by your organization, industry context (if applicable), and how Oracle technologies were used to solve the problem.
  • Benefits realized from the solution – for example, cost/labor/time savings, improved business processes/customer service, overall ROI improvements.

Abstracts will be reviewed for quality, originality, innovation, and inclusion of topics of interest to a large number of users.
