SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Free Workshop: Wireless Sensor Networks in the Environment

The University of North Texas, through funding from the National Science Foundation, has been afforded the opportunity to host a one-day hands-on mini-course dealing with utilizing wireless sensor networks to improve education opportunities and decision-making processes. This seminar is specifically aligned with the needs of community decision-makers and education professionals and thus we would like to extend an invitation if you are someone who works in this rapidly changing field.

In this minicourse, you will have the opportunity to learn about the types of data being collected from wireless sensor networks, techniques to model information and predict outcomes based on this data, and how these technologies can be used to compliment public education and decision-making efforts. You will also participate in hands-on demonstrations where you will interact with wireless sensors and create models for the types of information that are most applicable to your situation.

The mini-course is sponsored by the Cyberinfrastructure Training, Education, Advancement and Mentoring (CI-TEAM) program of the National Science Foundation and thus comes at no charge to you. Both lunch and snacks will be provided and each participant will be presented with a minimum of $50.00 worth of books and/or materials to take with them at the end of the course.

The workshop will be offered in two sesssions, held at the University of North Texas Research Park, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm:

  • First session: Wednesday, July 9th, 2008
  • Second session: Saturday, July 26th, 2008
Please contact Jeremy Delost at jmd0314@unt.edu or 940-231-0870 to register for the course. Click here for more information.
