Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) |
|
Saturday, November 21, 2009
2 - 3 pm
Presentation:
Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) are innovative approaches to digitally or "virtually" building an infrastructure in the computer before constructing and operating it in the real world. Three and four dimensional (3D + time) or N-dimensional computer models are built to represent the infrastructure and its individual components in a coordinated and consolidated virtual project model.
Virtual models can then be visualized, tested and shared amongst authorized project teams, managers and contractors to evaluate design and construction options, to capture design faults, and to resolve conflicts through the ability to see the project from any point of view or point in time. The models can also be used for stakeholder participation and community approvals, before the start of physical work on site. |

Stimulating Architecture - Building Smart with less - Green BIMStorm
Attendees witnessed and learned how to participate in a Green BIMStorm. Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) calls for early collaboration by many stakeholders. BIMStorms are award winning events that illustrate the collaboration that can happen at a stunning pace using Low Carbon Collaboration techniques.
Note: No technical expertise is needed to participate in a BIMStorm. The most important ingredient is your knowledge of the building industry.

Got Infrastructure? Welcome Home! Our
association's roots run deep in infrastructure management. Since the organization's
inception as AM/FM International, GITA has attracted a large number of professionals
from a broad cross section of industries. GITA members represent a core of the nation's
infrastructure leaders who will ultimately be the leaders in the growing application
of geospatial information and technology to address our nation's growing infrastructure
needs.
This event will focus
on 3D/4D applications of infrastructure modeling and management.
New York City's home to some remarkable 3D infrastructure projects and is an excellent
location to challenge the capability of technological solutions provided by our
key sponsors. You can read more about these technologies on the Web or walk in for
